The 7th Grade artists made these ceramic pieces using the slab method and white earthenware clay. After sketching their own designs, these artists rolled out slabs, and measured and cut those slabs into pieces for the walls, bottoms, and other parts. Then, by scoring each piece where it connected to another and by using slip (very wet clay), these artists assembled their slab forms. After the first (bisque) firing, these artists glazed their pieces to make them colorful, stronger, and nonporous. Finally, the pieces were fired in a kiln a second time.
