After constructing their forms, these artists applied jet black engobe and, using a sgraffito technique, created patterns and images by scratching away the engobe to reveal the red clay underneath. When their finished pieces were bisque fired to cone 05, the artists applied a clear transparent glaze before the glaze firing.
