Greek Coil Pottery Forms

For these pieces, the 7th Grade artists used white earthenware clay and the coil technique to build an ancient Greek pottery form. They looked at outlines and examples of a lekythos, squat lekythos, pelike, alabastron, volute krater, and kalyx krater as they worked. After firing their pieces in the kiln at Cone 05 (about 1888º F), the artists glazed their pieces before firing them in the kiln for a second time.
