Pencil Drawings

After talking about copyright law, these artists drew from photographs that they took themselves or photographs that they got permission to use from the photographer. These artists than used the grid technique to help scale up and compose their drawings. They created the same grid on both their photographs and papers, and then they used the grid to help compose their images to look like the photographs. Thinking about art history, we could say that these artists worked within the category of Photorealism, referencing especially the Photorealism of Chuck Close who used a grid.
