Scroll down to see the abstract still life drawings created by the 7th grade artists. This piece focused on abstraction, on using colored pencils, and on working with analogous colors (a primary or secondary color and the two tertiary colors next to it on the color wheel). These artists drew a still life while focusing on the outlines of objects. They then separated the space around the objects with straight lines. Once they had their lines on their paper, they chose a primary or secondary color from the color wheel in order to make this a form of monochromatic art (art that has one dominant color). They colored in each shape that they created with their drawn lines by filling it with a darker or lighter value of the main color that they chose or by layering that color with the primary or secondary colors next to it on the color wheel. They finished their pieces by darkening their initial pencil lines with a black felt tip pen.
