Scroll down to see the slab forms created by these artists in 8th grade. These artists sketched multiple ideas for their forms and for designs that they might carve or pierce into those forms. They used a buff clay that fires to Cone 5 (2167º F) for these pieces. They used a slab roller, rulers, and knives to make all of the pieces for their forms; and they used the technique of scoring and adding slip to their pieces in order to assemble the forms. They used a variety of tools to add carved or pierced designs. After the first (bisque) firing, these artists glazed their pieces before they were fired a second time to Cone 05 (1888º F).
